FRAC-IN demoNStration at Aquaconsoil 2025

LIFE FRAC-IN project partner DEKONTA gave a presentation and demonstration of the FRAC-IN technology at Aquaconsoil which took place in Liège, Belgium from June 16 to June 20 2025.

The presentation, titled “Case Study: Application of Combined FRAC-IN/Electric Current Enhanced Remediation on a Low Permeability Site,” introduced a novel approach for treating chlorinated ethenes (ClE) in challenging low-permeability aquifers. The method integrates pneumatic fracturing and hydraulic emplacement of waste zero-valent iron (ZVI) and/or sand (FRAC-IN) to improve permeability and distribute reactive materials.

In addition to the presentation, DEKONTA organised a live demonstration explaining the operational principles of FRAC-IN, including pneumatic fracturing and controlled amendment injection. The session attracted strong interest from remediation professionals, regulators and researchers.

Participation in AquaConSoil 2025 further strengthened the visibility of the LIFE FRAC-IN project and confirmed the technology’s relevance for complex contaminated sites across Europe.
